Travel Plans for Nov. 19: Google Form for Nov. 19 Travel Plans
This is important – Independent Travel Form Due This Wednesday!
Band Members must have this document signed and returned to the Band Staff. An independent travel form must be filled out for every game. This is important! It is our responsibility to have a physical copy of a signed independent travel form for every game.
Senior Recognition Game:
Senior Parents – We will be displaying a slideshow at this Thursday’s game. We will be taking pictures of the Seniors this Tuesday directly after rehearsal. We invite you to be included in the pictures and would ask, if you are available, that you come to the end of our rehearsal to take a picture with your student. Our Booster VP will be taking pictures.
If you are unable to attend but would still like to be in the picture with your child, please contact Michele Heginbotham at email@example.com. She is willing to meet with you at a different time to get your picture taken with your student.
All pictures will need to be completed by Wednesday. There will not be time for late additions.
If you have not been able to sign up yet, please sign up to help us run our concession stands. There are still games occurring even if the Band is not performing during the week.
Non-Senior Parents – please help the Senior parents spend time with their students this Thursday by signing up for volunteering at concession stands.

5A Region Band Auditions:

Solo and Ensemble Competition:
In February, all Band students will participate in an individual competition that is deemed the “Solo and Ensemble Competition.” This competition is a performance by an individual or section of students on a prepared piece of music. Some students will be selecting their own music to prepare while others will be assigned music. We will begin choosing music before the Thanksgiving Break so that students have ample time to prepare for their performance in February.
Spring Concert Bands:
In any other normal year, we would be finished with football/marching season and moving toward a Concert Band setting at this time. Our Concert Band season will be a little delayed, but we are preparing for the Spring now. The breakdown of Band placements for the Spring will be different this year from previous years.
This year is a State Year for 5A Concert Bands. What this means is that our Wind Ensemble will be preparing music to be performed and recorded for submission into the State UIL competition for 5A High School Concert Bands. Auditions for the Kingwood Park concert ensembles will occur at the end of December before the Christmas Break. There will be rehearsal and attendance expectations for participation in any competitive Concert Ensemble. A calendar for next semester’s rehearsals is posted on the Band webpage at the Kingwood Park HS website.
Music that Band members need to be preparing:
* Danger Zone (Silver Stars Dance Team)
* Clair de Lune
* We’re an American Band
* Cheer Pack
* All-State Audition Music
Music can be found in Schoology and on the Band Google Classroom page under “Classwork.”
